Obiano Declares a Curfew in Villages in Anambra Where 19 People Were Killed.

Unknown gunmen killed 19 people in Anambra State yesterday evening, prompting the state government to enforce a curfew.

According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Solo Chukwulobelu, curfews were placed in Igbariam, Aguleri, Umueri, Nteje, Awkuzu, and Umunya.

“The curfew, which starts, Monday, April 26th, 2021, is between 7pm and 6am daily, before further notice,” Chukwulobelu said in the statement.

We warn Ndi Anambra and state citizens residing in these areas to adhere to the curfew order, as security forces are under strict instructions to execute it.”

Unknown gunmen attacked and killed some Awkuzu residents on Monday morning, forcing Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University students to flee the city.

According to reports, some livestock was also killed, and a large number of people were injured.
