The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Welfare Committee, Mr Y. C. Maikyau, SAN on Tuesday. November 30, 2021 added yet another feather to his illustratrious cap when he was inducted as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC) Nigeria.
The well-attended induction ceremony took place during the ongoing 2021 Alternative Dispute Resolution Conference, Induction & Annual General Meeting of the Institute at the Abuja International Trade and Convention Centre. A large contigent of lawyers were also in attendance at the event, as were members of the public.
The ADR Conference, an annual event of the Institute, centred this year’s edition of the gathering on the imperative of interrogating the various approaches through which dialogue, mediation and conciliation can be effectively harnessed to foster peace, security, harmonious cooperation and sustainable development in a polarised society such as Nigeria. To this end, the theme for the 2021 Alternative Dispute Resolution Conference, namely, “Dialogue, Mediation and Conciliation: A Panacea for Managing Polarised Societies,” was seen by many stakeholders as an apt and timely one indeed.
