A 32-year-old car dealer, Adeife Sijuade, was on Friday docked at an Abeokuta Magistrate Court for fraud.

The police charged Mr Sijuade with fraud and stealing N1.7 million belonging to Adedolapo Adewale under the guise that he would sell a Toyota Camry car to him.

ASP Olakunle Shonibare, the prosecutor, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in February 2022 at Abeokuta.

Mr Shonibare said the defendant, who is a car dealer, obtained N1.725 million from Mr Adewale and failed to deliver a Toyota Camry to him as promised.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 419  390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Ogun 2006.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Magistrate Olajumoke Somefun granted the accused N300,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until January 16 for trial
