STATEMENT BY THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION ON THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA`S POLICY ON ASSET RECOVERY AND INFORMATION ON RECOVERY ACCOUNTS
The Nigerian Bar Association wishes to bring to the notice of all Legal Practitioners that the Federal Government has set up certain accounts with the Central Bank of Nigeria into which funds forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria should henceforth be paid.
This is in furtherance to the anti- corruption agenda of the Federal Government of Nigeria, and the international obligations /standards imposed by various international instruments to which Nigeria is a party to guarantee transparency and accountability.
This information is to also assist the Courts in the performance of their judicial duties to avoid any ambiguity.
In view of the above, please see below cash assets under final forfeiture, interim forfeiture and cash assets ring fenced as evidence are to be transferred into the appropriate accounts:
