It is with great pleasure that I write today to celebrate the invaluable tradition of apprenticeship (Igba boyi) within the profession and the impact it continues to have in our society.
Igba boyi is a practice deeply ingrained in our cultural heritage and it has played a significant role in preserving and passing down our tradition and skills from generation to generation. It is a testament to preserving our rich cultural heritage and ensuring its longevity.
As we all know, Igba boyi is not just acquiring skills is also instilling values such as discipline, hard work, respect, and a sense of belonging. It is a journey that transforms the individual into a responsible and skillful member of the community.
Otu oka iwu Abuja branch will record a huge success in unveiling this uncommon trend of *Igba boyi* in Legal Practice. It would help our younger professionals to become masters in different fields of practice. The individual professional will serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration to the younger generation of lawyers and encourage them to embrace the apprenticeship tradition with enthusiasm and definition.
As we celebrate this uncommon initiative by Otu Oka Iwu, let us also recognize the responsibility that comes with it. We must support and mentor the apprentices in our various branches, not rejecting lawyers because there is no space in your chambers or because he or she was not referred to you by an influential person. We all have the responsibility to create a better society where equity and sound justice will reign supreme.
I wish us well.
