NNEWI – It was confusion in Nnobi, Anambra State, on Sunday when hoodlums suspected to be gunmen stormed the town and abducted some church goers in the area.
The gunmen, according to eyewitness, double-crossed the bus conveying victims who were heading towards E-Dey Work Adorotation Centre, near Nnewi, at Eziehulu end of the road and ordered the men in the bus to enter their (gunmen vehicle) at gunpoint.
The vicious, stern-looking gun-wielding men, pushed, kicked the men into their Sienna car and drove off dangerously.

The incident led to people running helter-skater for their lives sustaining injuries of various degrees as there was stampede at the Afor Nnobi Market which is located close to the scene of the incident.
The incident which occurred at 8.30 a.m. disrupted worship activities in the churches located within the scene of the incident which included House of Pinnacle, Grace of God and St. Paul Catholic Church, Umuru Nnobi, and the Cathedral Church of St. Mary Nnewi.
It also caused traffic jam while the Nnewi, Nnobi roads, and Amuko Nnewi –Nnobi oads were later deserted by vehicles fearing the gunmen might have taken any of the routes leading to Nnewi.
The exact number of men abducted could not be ascertained at press time but other sources said about five men were whisked away by the bad guys.
The PPRO, Anambra State Police Command said Police would investigate the incident adding that he had just heard about it at the time Daily Independent contacted him.
