Kogi Crisis: APC NWC Overrules Gov. Bello
The National working Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as unacceptable, the decision of the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello to set up a parallel State Working Committee and office ion Lokoja.
The Governor had on Wednesday open a parallel state office of the party in Lokoja, where his factional chairman, Ahovi Ibrahim inaugurated his executive.
The new APC secretariat was commissioned by the National Chairman, John Odiggie-Oyegun, last Saturday, when it was designated as President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign office for 2019 election.
But in a statement issued yesterday in Abuja, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdulahi denounced the parallel body of the party from Governor Bello, insisting that he party recognizes Alhaji Hardy Ametuo and his SWC members as the authentic leadership of the APC in Kogi State.
“In respect of Kogi State, the NWC reaffirms that Alhaji Haddy Ametuo remains the Chairman of the APC in the state until the appropriate organ of the party decides otherwise in accordance with the party’s constitution”, Abdulahi said in a statement.
The party also constituted a three-man committee, headed by the Deputy National Chairman, South, Segun Oni to embark on a fact finding mission to Kaduna with the view of identifying the causes of the disagreement, as well as thye circumstances that led to the demolition of the houses of Senator Hunkuyi.
The committee, which has the National auditor, George Moghalu and National Women leader, Hajia Rahmatu Aliyu as other members is to report back to the NWC within a week.
