I am honoured to be part of the Nigerian Bar Association, Enugu Branch 2021 Law Week themed “STRENGTHENING THE JUDICIAL PROCESS FOR JUSTICE DELIVERY IN A TIME OF NATIONAL CRISIS”.
We are, unarguably, living in a time of serious national crisis when our country is assailed by diverse problems; economic crisis, insecurity and threats of disintegration, to mention but a few. Therefore, a discussion on how the judicial process can be engaged to adequately confront these challenges is quite apt and timely. Seeing that, the Judiciary is the only Constitutional arm of Government saddled with the responsibility of resolving such disputations in a civil manner.
This Law Week promises to be an insightful one; of asking difficult questions, deliberating and profering solutions thereto. It is my sincere hope that we shall rise from this program with fresh ideas on how our judicial system can be strengthened to tackle the challenges we face as a country at this time.
I commend the Branch Executives and the Law Week Planning Committee for coming up with the theme, the efforts and resources that has gone into the planning and execution of this august event. I extend my best wishes to Enugu Branch (the nulli secondus branch) and urge participants to actively participate in all the activities lined up for the week. I have no doubt it will be a rewarding experience.
