The National Youth Service Corps has declared that no corps member will be assigned to any place where there is a security threat going forward.
Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, Director-General of NYSC, stated this on Tuesday at the 2021 Batch ‘A’ Pre-Orientation Workshop in Karu, Nasarawa State.
He mentioned that this would be implemented during the upcoming 2021 Batch A Stream Two Orientation Course.
“Because the health and wellbeing of corps members and personnel is part of my administration’s policy thrust, we will continue to collaborate closely with relevant shareholders to develop policies for the security of both corps members and the whole corps population during the orientation course,” he said.
NYSC has mentioned that the scheme is being developed in collaboration with security forces and would not jeopardize the welfare of any corps member.
The NYSC DG also stated that the scheme intends to expand camp capability while adhering to COVID-19 protocols across the world.
“We collaborated closely with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and state health ministries.
“We will use the workshop opportunity to, among other things, leverage our insights and investigate the possibility of increasing camp potential while keeping in mind the need to strictly adhere to COVID -19 safety standards as we learn to function optimally under the ‘new normal.”
