I have read several story on the media of the arrest, detention and torture of Aminu Mohammed, an undergraduate of the Federal University, Dutse, Jigawa State, over a post on Twitter, alleging Aisha Buhari, wife of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was ‘feeding fat on poor citizens’ money.’
This story comes to me as a rude shock because in the over seven years of this wicked , clueless and lawlessness government, I have hardly heard of the first lady using raw state power to oppress anybody .
As it stands right now the young man has not committed any crime to warrant his arrest , detention and torture by the police or DSS at the instance of the first lady. The act of the security agency and the first lady is unlawful , illegal and unconstitutional and therefore a violation of the young man’s fundamental rights to his personal liberty , dignity to his human person , freedom of expression and movement .
In view of the above , I am calling for the immediate unconditional release of Aminu Mohammed because with a clear conscience our first lady need not be intimidated by unjust accusations as the saying goes a clear conscience fears no accusation .
