On behalf of my firm and my humble self, I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the late Alhaji Mikail Adisa Bashua, CON, SAN, as well as to the Lagos Branch of the NBA, on his recent passing. Though born into a privileged family background in Lagos, Alhaji Bashua redefined himself not by his pedigree, but through hard work and commitment to excellence. This is what accounted for his success in exploiting the numerous opportunities that life presented to him. After his training in England, he was called to the English Bar in 1960. His subsequent foray into politics saw him elected into the Federal House of Representatives for the Lagos Constituency from 1962 to 1964. On the expiration of his tenure, He returned to his law firm, M.A. Bashua & Co. His attainment of the rank of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was a reward for his attributes and diligence, as was the conferment on him by the Federal Government of Nigeria of the prestigious national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) in 2008. In the course of his illusrious life and achievements, Alhaji Bashua set an enviable standard for many of us to emulate, both in our personal and professional lives and engagements. May his soul rest in peace, and May God bless his family, friends and the Lagos branch of the NBA. Amen.
Chukwuemeka Mbamala.
