As the 2023 General Elections’ political activities gather momentum across the country, Dr. Paul Ebiala, Esq, the immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Calabar Branch, has formally declared his intention to contest for the Yala 1 State Constituency seat in the Cross River State House of Assembly under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Making the declaration before crowds of teeming members of PDP at the end of his Ward meeting in Yahe, Yala LGA on the 29th of December, 2021, Dr. Ebiala, who had previously offered himself to serve in that capacity in 2007 and 2015 but was not favoured by the Party at the time, promised to bring his experiences garnered while practicing law in Courtrooms for 20 years and teaching law in Classrooms for over 12 years to bear in his legislative functions if given an opportunity to serve.
He announced that, in the coming days, his Campaign Team christened “PAUL EBIALA CAMPAIGN ORGANIZATION (PECO)” would draw up the schedule for intensive consultations with critical stakeholders of his Constituency across the 8 Wards that make up the Constituency, pledging that his vision is to add value to the entire polity of the Constituency and the State as a whole.
Fielding questions from journalists, Dr Ebiala assured that, with his wealth of experience and exposure in leadership affairs, he would provide potent, effective and impactful representation to the good People of Yala 1 State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, emphasizing that detailed and well documented Agenda for the Constituency, which shall remain his pact with his Constituents, would be circulated as his Campaign Team moves around.
Elders and stakeholders of the Party in Yahe Ward who were present at the event took turns to comment on Dr Ebiala’s sterling qualities and capacity. They opined that they have no reservations whatsoever in adopting his ambition because of his proven track records of service both in private and public life, adding that this time around they, the people, have decided that their representative should be one whose voice every one in the Legislative House would always want to listen to, and they have found that in Dr Ebiala, promising him their unalloyed and unflinching support all through the struggle.
The event ended with pomp and pageantry in celebration of the 2021 Christmas and to usher in the new year 2022..
