Dear Learned Silks, Benchers, Distinguished Colleagues,
COGNIZANT of the Notice of proposed Amendment to the NBA Constitution 2015, as amended in 2021, dated 27th July 2022, issued by the General Secretary, and another on the 28th of July
2022, by the Assistant General Secretary;
IN CONSIDERATION of Observations, Objections, Comments, Advisories, and Responses by
members of the Nigerian Bar Association;
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT:
- The Notice of 27th July 2022 issued, signed and circulated by the General Secretary is hereby
withdrawn for non-compliance with the 30 days Notice to be given to members, required by
Section 25(1) of the Constitution of the NBA; and - The NOTICE OF PROPOSED AMEMDMENTS dated 27th July 2022, signed, issued, and
circulated by the Assistant General Secretary, on the 28th July, 2022 is also withdrawn for being
unconstitutional, ultra vires, null and void.
CONSEQUENTLY, the item on the Agenda of the Annual General Meeting on Amendments to
the Constitution of the NBA 2015, as amended in 2021, is withdrawn, removed and deleted from
the Agenda.
TAKE NOTICE that there is no motion to amend the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar
Association, 2015, as amended in 2021, at the Annual General Meeting, scheduled to take place
on Thursday, 25th August 2022, at the Eko Atlantic by 12 noon.
This Notice of Withdrawal is dated Thursday, the 11th day of August 2022.
