Wawa Lawyers’ Association establishes the committee on merit awards to promote and enhance the pursuit of excellence in our value system.
In furtherance of our aims and objectives, vision and mission statements, we still consider it necessary to establish another High Powered Committee On Merit Awards. This committee will be charged with the responsibility of conferring Merit Awards to illustrious sons and daughters of Wawa Land for their outstanding Achievements in various fields of human endeavor especially where it concerned the Bar and The Bench.
Awards in areas like Governance, Leadership where it concerned our traditional institutions, captains of industries, scientistific and technological inventors, medical breakthroughs, literary iconic figures, undergraduate/student’s awards and several other awards that may be deemed necessary by the committee are to be conferred on individuals who merited such awards.
This will just like the Nobel Prize awards, be an annual event where individuals who have made marks in the sand of time will be duly acknowledged, honored and encouraged to greater heights.
Those who willingly accepted to render their selfless service for the betterment of Wawa Land in this regard are as follows:
1. Prof. Frank Asogwa, former Honorable Commissioner for Local Government Matters and Former Dean of Faculty Of Law Enugu State University of Science & Technology ESUTH (Enugu North Senatorial Zone, 08037231136). Erudite Prof Frank Asogwa is the Chairman Of this esteemed committee.
2. Dr. Chidera Aneke Peter, Immediate past Legal Adviser To Ohaneze Ndigbo and current Treasurer of same Ohaneze Ndigbo(Enugu East Senatorial Zone, 08035498873)
3. Chief Uchenna Okafor, Egbe Eji Eje Ogu, Head Of Chambers, Hon Tony Ani SAN & Co (Enugu West Senatorial Zone, 08035494202).
4. Hon. Luke A Nkwegu (Ebonyi North Senatorial Zone, 08038317571)
5. Chief Ugochukwu A Obasi, (Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone,08033669693).
6. Nweke Festus Sunday, (Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone, 08064424895)
They will design categories and stratas of the awards. Nominations of those to be conferred will be strictly based on objective assessment of one’s outstanding achievements.
Posthumously, Personalities such as:
Honorable Justice Daddy Onyeama, ICJ, Augustine Nnamani JSC, Anthony Aniagolu JSC, CC Nweze JSC, Chief CC Onoh, Chief Charles Abangwu and numerous others are to be considered for various types of awards based on outstanding achievements during their life time.
Some living legends such as Tony Mogbo SAN, John Nnia Nwodo, Sullivan Chime, Anyim Pius Anyim, Bianca Ojukwu, Chinedu Nebo, Barth Nnaji, Governor Peter Mbah, David Umahi, Samuel Onyishi will be considered for such awards.
The committee will also encourage and promote activities that will bring about the pursuit of excellence in our value system.
