Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have arrested three suspected armed robbers who snatched a Toyota Camry salon car from a Niger State resident after a failed attempt to dispossess him of his money failed.
It was learnt that Umar Mukhtar, a 25-year-old resident of Okada Road, Minna, with 30-year-old Shuaibu Ahmed,
of the same address and Mohammed Ibrahim Abba, 25-year-old of Tafa, Kaduna State, were led by one Mustapha of Angwan-Kaje area of Minna to a residence in Bosso Estate for the purpose of robbery.
They demanded money from their victim but did not get any. While they were contemplating their next action, the wife of the victim drove into the house with a Toyota Camry car with Reg. No KNT 785 SN. The robbers quickly attacked the woman and collected the car at ‘gunpoint’.
However, Nemesis caught up with the suspects who were later arrested by operatives of the Niger State Police Command.
During interrogation, one of them confessed that they used a toy gun for the robbery while another said it was he, who locked the occupants of the house inside a toilet before they drove off.
The Niger State Police spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the robbery incident but disclosed that the car was recovered while investigations were ongoing.
He also assured our correspondent that efforts to arrest one of the fleeing suspects were onging.
Abiodun continued: “The suspects were arrested at Dikko junction with a white Toyota Camry vehicle suspected to have been stolen, and during interrogation, Mukhtar confessed that on 3rd May, 2025 at about 8pm, one Mustapha of Angwan-Kaje area of Minna led him and Shuaibu to a residence in Bosso Estate for robbery.
“Mustapha was armed with a toy gun while he and Shuaibu used screwdrivers as weapons.”
He said further that they requested money from their victims, but as there was no money, the wife of the victim drove in within the period of the robbery incident, and the vehicle with Reg. No KNT 785 SN was snatched.
“A preliminary investigation revealed that Mukhtar and Shuaibu drove the vehicle away, while Mustapha stayed back and locked the victims in the toilet to ensure that nobody raised an alarm.
“The said Mustapha linked up Mukhtar and Shuaibu to Mohammed Abba at Dikko junction, who was contacted to take them to Kaduna to dispose the vehicle.
“However, the vehicle was recovered, and the suspects are under investigation, and effort to arrest Mustapha who is presently at large is ongoing,” Abiodun further said.
