The birth, death, and marriage registration portal will be launched by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday
This registration system encompasses various civil registrations such as birth registration, stillbirth registration, birth attestation, adoption, marriage notification, divorce notification, migration, and death.
Nasir Kwarra, the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), disclosed this during a pre-launch briefing on Monday.
“The e-CRVS launched by Tinubu signifies the commitment of the current government and leadership to enhance the capture, compilation, processing, dissemination, and timely access to statistics on vital events in the country,” he stated.
“It aims to accelerate the improvement of civil registration and vital statistics systems in Nigeria within a ten-year period, from 2023 to 2030, in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal,” he added.
Kwarra mentioned that the commission, in collaboration with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), has developed the e-CRVS Operational Readiness Assessment Report. This report highlights the potential of digital technologies to bring transformative outcomes in CRVS and securely store data at scale, in a cost-effective manner in Nigeria.
Furthermore, the NPC chairman emphasized that the system provides digital certificates in all cases, an accessible verification platform for registered organizations, and a central management system (dashboard) that analyzes collated civil registrations to generate vital statistics for informed decision-making.
