Teenager Dies In Ekiti Building Collapse

A 13-year-old girl identified only as Ifeoluwa, has reportedly died in a building collapse in Ijede, Ekiti State. This was disclosed in a statement posted on the official X handle of the National Emergency Management Agency on Wednesday, November 1.

The statement read, “A storey building in Igede town collapsed on Tuesday, October 31. The house which was occupied by the family of Mr Lanre Olagunju was noticed to be a mud house which was later cemented. A 13 year old girl reportedly died as a result of the collapse.”

As of the time of the incident, Mr Olagunju and his family were in the house.”

A 13-year-old girl named Ifeoluwa died as a result of the incident, while Mr Lanre, his wife and two other children are currently at the General Adebayo Hospital, Iyin-Ekiti, receiving treatment. “The body of late Miss Ifeoluwa had been deposited at the mortuary.”

The statement added that the house and four adjourning buildings are noted to be dilapidated and would have to be demolished to avert future collapse.
