Jelili Sulaimon, the suspended Chairman of Alimosho Local Government Area in Lagos State has tendered an apology to the state House of Assembly.
This was announced in a post shared on Tuesday afternoon by TVC on X, saying the suspended chairman had already submitted the apology letter to the state lawmakers.
“Suspended chairman of Alimosho Local Government area of Lagos State, Jelili Sulaimon tenders letter of apology to the Lagos State House of Assembly,” the report said.
Jelili was earlier suspended by the assembly for alleged misconduct.
However, in his reaction, he alleged that his suspension stemmed from refusing to hand over Iyana Ipaja market revenues to Abiodun Ishola Ejigbadero, who’s been accused of land-grabbing.
Jelili said his suspension was to allow Ejigbadero to take over Iyana Ipaja market.
Ejigbadero made headlines in May 2023 when he was remanded by a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Yaba, Lagos State for suspected land-grabbing, fraud, and theft.
“I was suspended because they asked me to hand over Iyana Ipaja Market tolls and revenue to Ejigbadero,” the suspended chairman revealed.
He continued: “There is no need to twist facts because I could sense that the Lagos Government already trying to twist the facts and facts must not be twisted.
“The cause of the suspension is that I am directed by the Lagos State House of Assembly to give the revenue and market tolls of Iyana Ipaja market to Mr Abiodun Ishola Ejigbadero. There is a written document to that fact and that is the basis of the suspension.
“The second thing is that they claim Abiodun Ishola Ejibaduro is the owner of all land from Iyana Ipaja to Idimu.”
