Chidi Odinkalu, a professor of international human rights law and former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), has claimed that Inyang Okoro, a Supreme Court Justice, and Samson Osagie, the Edo State Attorney-General, met at Protea Hotel, Benin City, Edo.

Via X, Odinkalu posted on Friday that ahead of the Supreme Court’s hearing of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) motion to overturn the Appeal Court verdict that affirmed the gubernatorial election victory of Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osagie, who would be making arguments in the court, was with Okoro who would probably be ruling on the matter.

His post read, “Three days ago, on June 10, Asue Ighodalo [PDP gubernatorial candidate] appealed to the Supreme Court against the decision of the Court of Appeal in the governorship election.

“Shortly after 8 pm last night [Thursday], a senior male Justice of the Supreme Court (JSC) left Protea Hotel (near ShopRite in Benin) in the company of the Edo State Attorney-General. How so?!”

Odinkalu’s claim was met with reactions and calls for proof, as well as demands for the judge’s name.

Odinkalu followed this post with another one mentioning Okoro’s name. “Inyang Okoro drove out of the premises of Protea Hotel near ShopRite in Benin last night with State Attorney-General, Samson Osagie, in the latter’s car,” he wrote. “Did he disclose that to the Chief Justice of Nigeria? Where did they go together?”

Afterwards, Odinkalu attached a video that shows what appears to be Inyang approaching a counter.
