South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron, 24, was found dead in her Seongsu-dong apartment, authorities confirmed on Sunday.
According to BBC News on Sunday, police disclosed that a friend discovered her body at approximately 4:55 PM (07:55 GMT).
Investigators found no signs of foul play, and an official inquiry into the cause of death is ongoing.
Kim began her career as a child actress and was regarded as one of South Korea’s most promising young stars.
Born in Seoul in 2000, she gained recognition for her role in the 2009 film A Brand New Life, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. She later starred in The Man from Nowhere (2010), South Korea’s highest-grossing film that year, and the 2012 thriller The Neighbour, earning critical acclaim.
Her other notable works include the 2014 film A Girl at My Door and the 2016 television drama Mirror of the Witch.
Kim largely withdrew from the public eye in 2022 following a drunk driving incident, for which she was fined 20 million won (£11,000) in April 2023.
Her last role was in Netflix’s 2023 drama Bloodhounds, though reports indicate much of her performance was edited out due to the controversy.
