Soludo’s pace of tackling insecurity slow – Anambra governorship aspirant

A governorship aspirant for the Labour Party in the Anambra 2025 election, John Nwosu has berated the state governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo over the alleged slow pace of tackling the growing trend of insecurity in the state.

During the yuletide, there have been cases of kidnapping by criminals, including that of the member representing Onitsha North State Constituency 1 in the State House of Assembly, Justice Azuka, which happened on the eve of Christmas.

Nwosu reacting to this said: “Clearly, the Soludo administration has failed in articulating what ought to be priorities for Ndi Anambra.

Statistics indicate a drastic drop in the number of those returning to Anambra for the 2024 Christmas and 2025 New Year Festivities.

“Incidentally, for some inexplicable reasons, the state government said it had mapped out ameliorative measures for tackling insecurity in the state which it would put in place beginning in January 2025. This seems to be a case of putting the cart before the horse.”

Soludo had recently announced that his government plans to launch a joint security operation, codenamed; Operation Udo Ga Achi, in late January.

But Nwosu is wondering why Soludo has to wait until late January when December is the period when indigenes of the state from far and wide return home to savour Christmas, describing it as a misplaced priority.

“It is most embarrassing that an eminent Anambra prelate is still missing and on Christmas Eve an incumbent member of the Anambra State Assembly representing Onitsha North was kidnapped.

“Certainly, Anambra people can’t afford to continue supporting a governor who schedules security interventions as if he is scheduling a social appointment.

“State Security is a 24/7 project anchored on a firm commitment and allocation of the required resources, personnel, equipment and materials.

“The present Anambra State Government cannot be allowed to mortgage the security of the State and people, period. We cannot be in exile from our Homeland. Change is needed.
