The Adamawa State Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has approved the conversion and appointment of six court registrars to the rank of Magistrates in a move aimed at strengthening the state’s lower judiciary.

The decision was taken at the Commission’s 186th meeting held last week, under the leadership of the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman.

A statement issued on Monday, January 26, 2026, and signed by the Secretary of the Commission, Christie Ngbale Tarfa, disclosed that the officers elevated are Sa’adatu Abubakar, Hammanjoda Abubakar, Amina Mahmud Talba, Asta Michael, Kwaji Musa, and Happy Daniel Nzadon.

The conversion from registrar to magistrate, as stated, marks a significant career advancement within the judicial system.

While registrars are largely responsible for administrative duties in the courts, magistrates preside over cases, issue rulings, and deliver judgments in magistrates’ courts.

The statement noted that the appointments are expected to ease workload pressures in the lower courts and improve the efficiency of justice delivery across the state.

According to the statement, the newly appointed magistrates are expected to be sworn in and deployed to various judicial divisions in the coming days.

In other news, the Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers during a coordinated operation in Song Local Government Council of the state.

According to a statement issued by the command on Sunday, the suspects were apprehended on January 24, 2026, following credible intelligence received by operatives attached to the Song Divisional Police Headquarters.

Signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the operation was carried out in collaboration with local hunters and targeted a suspected criminal hideout in a remote area of Balma village.

The suspects were identified as Shaibu Mohammadu, 30, and Ja’o Bawa, 31, both males. During the raid, police recovered one locally fabricated revolver rifle, which was taken into custody as an exhibit. Other items recovered included two mobile phones and charms.

Police said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects confessed to their involvement in a series of kidnapping activities within Song and the surrounding communities. Efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest other members of the kidnapping syndicate who are currently at large.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Dankombo Morris, commended the effective collaboration between the police and community members, describing the operation as a significant step in the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.

He reassured residents of the command’s commitment to maintaining security and urged members of the public to continue providing timely and useful information to security agencies.

The police command also assured that the suspects would be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.1 reply
