The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Seme Border Command has identified and handed over two officers implicated in a viral video showing the torture of civilians for disciplinary action.

The officers, identified as Superintendent of Customs TA Inemugha and Assistant Superintendent of Customs II GO Aboribo, have been arrested and transferred to the Customs Police Unit for further investigation.

In a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Hussain Abdullahi, it was noted that the officers’ actions do not align with the Service’s commitment to professionalism and integrity. The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, strongly condemned their unethical conduct and directed their transfer to the NCS Headquarters for a comprehensive investigation and disciplinary action.

The Command had earlier announced that it was investigating the alleged maltreatment of individuals by some officers after a video went viral on social media. Preliminary findings led to the identification of the two officers involved in the incident.

Abdullahi emphasized that the Service remains committed to ensuring transparency in all its operations and will not tolerate misconduct within its ranks. He also called on the complainants to assist with the ongoing inquiry, as the NCS continues to prioritize the public’s interest.

The Seme Border Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has assured the public that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken against the officers involved in the incident, reaffirming its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in its operations.
