In a distressing incident that occurred during the early hours of Friday, a considerable number of students from the Federal University Gusau, located in Zamfara State, were abducted by bandits. The assailants targeted the university, forcibly taking the students, marking another alarming instance of insecurity plaguing the region.
The abduction unfolded in a harrowing manner as a large group of armed bandits descended upon the off-campus residences of the students in the early hours of Friday.
The assailants, predominately targeting female students, forcibly gained entry into the premises.According to accounts, the bandits executed the invasion at approximately 4:00 am, targeting three hostels accommodating the students.
In the face of this terrifying assault, a number of students managed to evade capture, fleeing to the nearby bush for safety.
Providing further insight, Sani clarified that the bandits specifically focused on abducting university students and refrained from abducting any village residents during the raid.
The attackers employed a brazen approach, immediately directing their attention to the off-campus student accommodations upon reaching the village, firing rounds indiscriminately.
Subsequently, they forcibly entered the university campuses and proceeded to abduct a significant number of students, predominantly targeting the female population among them.
