South-South leader Edwin Clark has strongly criticized the resolution reached by President Bola Tinubu to resolve the political crisis in Rivers State, threatening legal action over what he calls an “undemocratic, dictatorial, one-sided” deal aimed at handing power to Minister Nyesom Wike.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Clark slammed the 8-point resolution as “baffling, appalling and unacceptable to the people, especially the Ijaw ethnic nationality.”The elder statesman accused Tinubu of seeing his role as mediator as an opportunity to repay Wike for “delivering” Rivers State during the presidential elections by making him Minister of FCT
It is obvious from the terms of the settlement that the President sees this as another chance to show gratitude to Wike for helping him win the presidential election,” Clark was quoted as saying.The resolutions allow 27 Rivers lawmakers who defected from PDP to APC to return to the Assembly and restores their positions, while dropping impeachment proceedings against Governor Nyesom Wike.Clark suggested the deal was one-sided and aimed at handing over leadership of the state to Wike against the wishes of the people.
