The House of Representatives will look into allegations of connivance between members of Boko Haram sect and officials of the Nigeria Correctional Service, the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Philip Agbese, has said.
Recall that earlier in the week, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, alleged that some Boko Haram suspects in custody at correctional centres were funding field operations with the aid of some warders.
General Musa stated this in his opening remarks at the commencement of sectoral debate series of security chiefs at the Federal House of Representatives on Tuesday.
Agbese, who represents Ado/Ogbadigbo/Okpokwu Federal Constituency of Benue State, said the relevant Committees of the House would look into the allegations and make appropriate recommendations for further legislative action.
He said, “The relevant committees are already working on the presentations made to the House not just by the Chief of Defence Staff but including all other Service Chiefs
“I believe the Committees on Defence, National Security and Intelligence are busy with the submissions of the Security Chiefs but Nigerians will have to be patient with them.“They will look into the allegations and make a presentation to enable the House to make recommendations on how best to tackle the issue of insecurity in Nigeria.
