The Kano State Police Command has announced ongoing investigations into allegations of corrupt practices involving a police officer and two others, leading to the transfer of 23 officers from their duty posts.

The state command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, noting that the investigation was ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

The spokesman said the probe has so far identified the two accused individuals as a member of the Police Special Constabulary and another from a local vigilante group assisting the division.

Kiyawa, however, disclosed that evidence provided by the complainant was “insufficient and uncorroborated,” adding that the counter-allegations of drug dealing raised against the complainant by the accused parties were also yet to be substantiated.

To ensure impartiality and protect the integrity of the investigation, it was stated that Bakori directed the transfer of the officer involved, along with 22 others, to other formations.

He also ordered the relief of the implicated Special Constabulary personnel from duty and disengaged the vigilante’s assistance pending the outcome of the probe.

“The ongoing investigation will continue to be conducted thoroughly and impartially, and any individual found culpable will face appropriate disciplinary actions in accordance with the law,” the statement read.

The command urged members of the public to remain patient while cooperating with investigators by providing credible information. It also reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism and accountability
