Police officer arrested for N915,000 rice fraud in Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a serving officer over an alleged fraud involving N915,000 in a failed rice supply transaction.

According to police sources, the officer, an Inspector attached to the Command, allegedly collected the money from a complainant in January 2024 with a promise to deliver 20 bags of rice.

The matter was formally reported on September 11, 2025, at about 2:34 p.m, repeated attempts by the complainant to recover either the goods or the money proved unsuccessful.

Investigations revealed that after receiving the funds, the officer went into hiding until detectives traced her to her residence in the Olusosun area of Ojota, where she was subsequently arrested and taken into custody.

Upon interrogation, the officer reportedly admitted to the offence and is currently being held for disciplinary measures, while further investigation into the case continues.
