The Taraba State Police Command has announced the arrest of a suspected kidnapper linked to the abduction of a 100-year-old man in the Sabon Pegi area of Ibi Local Government Council.

A press statement signed by the command’s Public Relations Officer, James Lashen Saminu, on Wednesday, revealed that the arrest followed swift action by operatives attached to the Ibi Division in collaboration with local youths.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on August 6, 2025, at approximately 9:30 am, when three unidentified armed men stormed the residence of Joshua Magani Ubandoma and abducted him at gunpoint.

The incident, the statement added, was reported to the police by one Hillary Habila Ubandoma.

“Acting immediately, police operatives visited the scene and traced the kidnappers’ motorcycle tyre marks into the surrounding forest.

“After days of intensive search and intelligence gathering, one suspect identified as Kingsley Alose, 37, a resident of Sabon Pegi, was apprehended on September 2, 2025.”

The command confirmed that the case is under investigation, with efforts ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects and rescue the victim.

Commissioner of Police Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin commended the operatives for their response and dedication. She also reassured the public of the command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime across the state.

“The Taraba State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to prevent crime and ensure the safety and security of all residents,” the statement read.
