A 25-year-old Business Education student of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Koya Ayodeji, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police for allegedly stabbing a colleague with a knife during an argument.
The suspect, a 5th-year level student who was under the influence of drugs, stabbed the 21-year-old, 3rd-year Mass Communication student, identified as Ayobami Ajayi, in his lower abdomen.
According to reports by the Daily Post, the argument ensued following an alleged noise the suspect claimed was emanating from the victim’s room.
Confirming the incident to DAILY POST on Friday, the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola said the incident occurred at about 11:50 pm on Tuesday.
Odutola explained that the suspect had asked Ajayi to reduce the noise emanating from his room but he ignored and in a fit of anger, he picked up a knife and stuck it in the victim’s lower abdomen, causing him severe injuries.
She stated that the victim was rushed to the State University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu, where his condition is now stable.
Odutola said, ”A case of attempted murder occurred at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, on January 21, 2025, at approximately 11:50 pm. The incident followed a misunderstanding between two students over noise disturbances in a dormitory room.
“Ayodeji was under the influence of hard drugs at the time of the attack. He has since been arrested and the Divisional Police Officer has requested a toxicology screening to confirm his condition.”
“The Divisional Crime Branch has visited the crime scene, recovering a blood-stained knife, which has been marked as evidence. Investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more details emerge,” she added.
