Police arrest fraudsters, others in Delta

The Delta State Police Command says it has arrested five suspected fraudsters/syndicate robbers who specialise in robbing and defrauding unsuspecting victims of their valuable items.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

He said, “Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the CP-Special assignment team between August 11and 16, 2025, arrested a syndicate of robbers/ fraudsters who specialise in robbing and defrauding unsuspecting victims of their valuable items such as phones, motorcycles, jewellery, and looting of their victims’ bank accounts.

“The suspects act in the guise of looking for direction and then hypnotise their victims before extorting and defrauding them.

“The suspects are one Ibrukoko  32, Obruche Actor 31 ,Umukoro 28, Emmanuel Buruutu 22, Musa Abdulahi 27, Sokoh 30, Preye Julius 36, Kadija Abass 30,

“The suspect operates in Warri, Ughelli, and other parts of the state and Edo state. Exhibits recovered from them include two Toyota Camrys with REG no. LND-809-HE and KSF-61-JU and 16 suspected stolen iPhones”

Edafe said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects have so far defrauded their victims of over N23 million, stolen about 42 iPhones, lady bikes, and 12 ladies so far  victims defrauded.

Similarly, the command also arrested five suspects for stealing ladders in Ekpan area of the state.

According to Edafe, the DPO Ekpan police received numerous complaints about stolen ladders where the suspects would come in the guise of being customers and never return with the ladder they hired.

“On August 22, 2025 DPO detailed operatives who embarked on an intelligence-led investigation and arrested one Esquire Stanley who claimed he sold the ladders at N25,0000,” he said.

He said further investigation led to the arrest of the receivers include Chinedu Okorie, Orgi Abara , Philip Augustine, and Obone Jevweu while total of 11 suspected stolen ladders were recovered.
