PDP Disagree on Accomplishments of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq

The Kwara State Government and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are sparring over Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s performance in his second year.

The governor’s performance during the last two years was rated as “extremely poor” by the PDP.

Kola Shittu, the state chairman, condemned AbdulRazaq’s “two years in government as lamentable,” claiming he had failed to fulfill key pledges he and his party made to Kwarans during the 2019 election campaign.

According to the PDP, the administration has also failed to match the people’s expectations, stating that Kwarans’ disappointment with the AbdulRazaq administration is widespread.

The administration, on the other hand, insisted that AbdulRazaq had accomplished a lot in the last two years.

It stated that it “welcomes constructive criticism that will strengthen our efforts in collaboratively raising Kwarans and providing them with democratic dividends.”

In a statement, Alhaji Bashir Adigun, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Communication, said, “It is ridiculous that a party that was sacked in an overwhelming landslide election in Kwara State in the 2019 general election will have the temerity to assess a governor who has been rated the best in the state’s history.”

“PDP has forgotten how its campaign trains were booed and stoned in many communities for its failed promises and for subjecting the people to misery, abject poverty, disorienting human condition and loss of dignity.

”For the record, this administration has not owed any public servant a dime since its assumption of office, in contrast to the PDP government, which left civil servants very poor, in debt and in tears and sorrow.

“The misery, agony, and poverty that the PDP inflicted on our retired public personnel and pensioners are still vivid in our minds.
They are deplorable.

“Against all difficulties, and to the consternation of the defunct Kwara PDP, our good governor, AbdulRazaq, has paid about N20 billion in pension and gratuity in the last two years, despite the government’s diminishing resources.
This is an example of His Excellency’s caring efforts to guarantee that pensioners live joyfully and peacefully in retirement.

“Kwarans have not forgotten how the PDP administration failed to pay the counterpart funds of the Universal Basic Education Commission, National Primary Health Care Development Agency and other development agencies. This deliberate reckless act by the PDP government of inglorious past denied the state of good schools, infrastructure and health facilities.

“The recent discovery of the massive looting and conversion  of our commonwealth  by identified officials of the last administration is an indicator of their greed, lack of appropriate character, fitness and patriotism for trusted public positions.
“We reiterate that individuals found guilty in the committee’s report on the illicit acquisition of government property will not go unpunished.”
