A past Chairman of the NBA Young Lawyers Forum, Ado-Ekiti branch, Damilola Atibioke, Esq. was kidnapped on the 15th February, 2022 between Kabba and Ekirin-Adde on his way to Ado-Ekiti. The Kidnappers have reached out and are making a demand of 30Million Naira ransom.
Mr Ede Asenoguan reacted to the incident as follows:
“We may soon run out of words in condemning the dastardly act of Kidnapping in Nigeria as the ugly trend has become a part of our daily existence. We will however not run out of steam in condemning the inhuman act.
Once again, a promising lawyer Damilola Atibioke, Esq., of Ado-Ekiti branch of the NBA is being held captive for ransom by men of the underworld. These kidnappers become more audacious as the days go by. The other day three lawyers of the Warri bar were kidnapped and later released. Now Damilola’s kidnappers are asking for a ransom of 30 Million Naira. And so we ask ourselves, is it that our government and security operatives have left us to our fate?
It is unnatural and inhuman to take people hostage for no just cause, especially lawyers and demand for ransom. I want to however encourage Damilola’s family and the NBA Ado-Ekiti to keep faith as we work and pray for his safe release. I equally extend my sympathy to them.
In the same vein, I am calling on the
the National Body of the NBA through its Security Agency Relations Committee (SARC) to as a matter of urgency laise with our security operatives to live up to their duties of protection of lives and properties; and do everything within their constitutional powers to ensure that Damilola is released unharmed.”
