OKOROCHA CONFIRMED AS CHAIR OF GOVERNING COUNCIL OF NBA WOMEN FORUM

Mrs. Chinyere Anayochukwu Okorocha, a lawyer with the Lagos-based law firm of Jackson, Etti & Edu, has been formally appointed Chairman of the
Governing Council of the Women Forum of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

In a letter made available to NEWSWIRE Law & Events Magazine, the National Executive Committee of the NBA disclosed that the appointment was among the fallouts of its Pre-National Executive Council Meeting, which was held on the 21st of August, 2022 in Lagos.

In line with the Forum’s terms of reference, the new NBA-WF President is expected to work with other members of the Governing Council to steer and manage the affairs of the Forum within the limits of the structure set out for it. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• To address matters of interest to female lawyers;
• To ensure efficient and result-oriented networking amongst female lawyers;
• To be an influential voice for female lawyers in the society and globally;
• To develop a platform that encourages female lawyers to have a global
  outlook, perspective and reach; and
• To address any other matters that affect female lawyers.

Mrs. Okorocha leads a Council that also comprises the following officials:

Eire Ifueko Alufohai (Vice-Chairman);

Irene Pepple (Secretary); and

• Mercy Ijato-Agada (Treasurer);

The Body also comprises of the following Council Members:

• Folashade Alli
• Soibi Ovia
• Hajia Adama Mohammed
• Ekaete Unyimeobong Ubokudom
• Chinyere Okeziem-Nwoko
• Oyeyemi Aderibigbe
• Nagode Olamide Musleemat

Along with her Council, Mrs. Okorocha’s mandate will subsist for the next two years. Until this appointment, she was the Vice-Chairman of the Council under her predecessor, Prof. Oluyemisi Bamgbose, SAN.
