Nyesom Wike Calls for Vigilance, Personal Security as Priority towards LG Elections
The 2018 Local Government Election in Rivers State comes up on June 16th, 2018 as announced in a State Broadcast by His Excellency, Nyesom Wike, the Executive Governor of Rivers State. As a result, the need to focus on our personal security should be a priority considering the volatile nature of elections particularly in River State and around the country.
We advise on the following security tips:
“Note that there will be movement restriction in and around Rivers State from 0600hrs – 1600hrs until voting is completed.”
“Monitor the situation closely on both electronic/print media as well as security reports”
“You may perform your civic right by voting but avoid hot spots or violent scenes/areas with political tension.”
“Ensure you have call credit on your phone and have an emergency number on your speed dial.”

“You may wish to have indoor games, movies/ books/music to keep everyone busy at home since there will be restriction of movement.”
“Avoid late nights or night parties on Friday and Saturday nights. Let your family or a confidant know your location always during the election.”
“Avoid engaging yourself in passionate and hot political debates. Remember your personal security is your responsibility.”
