The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two individuals for drug dealing and burglary respectively in Kano State.
Public relations officer of NSCDC in Kano, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said the arrests were made in two separate operations based on tip-off from the public.
In the first operation, the NSCDC personnel apprehended a suspected drug dealer, Basiru Ahmed, 42 years old, at Salanta in Gwale Local Government Area, in possession of 106 parcels of substances believed to be Indian hemp (Cannabis sativa),” the statement said.
He further revealed the NSCDC arrested him and transferred him to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation.
In another operation, 22-year-old Muhammad Abbas was arrested in Gurungawa, Kumbotso Local Government Area. Abbas is alleged to have broken into buildings and stole valuables worth thousands of naira.
“The suspect, who had been on the security watchlist for some time, was apprehended during a coordinated patrol aimed at curbing theft and other criminal activities in the area,” the statement said.
The NSCDC assured both suspects will be prosecuted once investigations are completed.
