The Nigerian Ports Authority has donated the sum of N200m to the victims of devastating floods that ravaged some communities in Borno State recently.

This was contained in a statement on Saturday by the NPA.

The cheque was presented on behalf of the NPA to the Governor of Borno State in Maiduguri on Friday by the trio of the Executive Director of Engineering & Technical Services, Ibrahim Umar, Executive Director of Finance & Administration, Ms Vivian Edet, and Executive Director Marine & Operations, Olalekan Badmus.

The Managing Director of the NPA, Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, stated that the agency stands with Borno State during this sad occurrence that has resulted in huge losses and disruption of lives and livelihoods.

“As a token of support for your disaster relief efforts, the Nigerian Ports Authority, under the guidance of the Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola, hereby donates the sum of N200m to aid efforts at stabilising the victims as quickly as possible,” Dantsoho said.

At least 414,000 people had been displaced and another 30 killed by the devastating flood in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, last week.
