‘Nonso Azih, a notable maritime and dispute resolution lawyer has been cleared by the Electoral Committee of NBA Lagos as eligible to run for the office of the chairman of the branch.
This clearance paves the way for Mr. Azih to participate in the upcoming branch elections, in his quest to enthrone proactive leadership and purposeful growth of the Premier Bar.
Mr. Azih, with over 19 years of proven experience and competence in law practice ranging from law firm to in-house/government counsel roles, is poised to leverage these cognate experiences to take the branch to greater heights.
There has been excitement within the legal community since Mr. Azih, known for his progressive approach to law practice and bias for professional development of lawyers, announced his intention to lead the Lagos Bar.
Mr. Azih has served the NBA Lagos Branch creditably in various roles. He has been recognised for his selfless and indefatigable strides in the defence of human rights, promotion of rule of law, and professional development of lawyers.
He has pledged to unveil his pragmatic and measurable plans for the branch in due course, in line with the anticipated timetable of the Electoral Committee.
Mr. Azih is the Principal Counsel of AZIH & AZIH Legal Practitioners. He graduated from the University of Nigeria in August 2005 and was called to the Nigerian Bar in November 2006. He holds an LLM from the University of Lagos and a Certificate in Maritime Dispute Resolution and International Arbitration from Lloyd’s Maritime Academy. He’s a Certified Mediator and a member of Nigerian Maritime Law Association (NMLA) and Employment and Labour Lawyers Association of Nigeria (ELLAN).
He has been an active member of the NBA Lagos Branch Human Rights Committee and the NBA National Litigation Committee.
