The National Orientation Agency has charged members of the National Youth Service Corps posted to Ondo State to reject the lure of get-rich-quick schemes and instead dedicate themselves to the principles of integrity, personal development, and national service.
This appeal was made during a lecture titled “Avoid Temptation to Get Rich Quickly,” delivered to Batch A Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko.
The lecture was presented on behalf of the NOA State Director, Mr. James Adekunle, by the Assistant Director and Head of Youth Engagement and Inclusion, Mr. Babatunde Akinde.
Speaking to the corps members, Akinde cautioned against pursuing wealth through dishonest or corrupt practices, warning that such paths only serve to undermine societal values and national unity.
“You must resist leaders who seek to manipulate you against constituted authority,” Akinde said. “Our country’s unity is threatened by immorality, impunity, social injustice, and the breakdown of law and order. As young Nigerians, you have a duty to protect the nation’s values and future.”
The NOA official encouraged the corps members to channel their energy into entrepreneurship and other lawful ventures that not only provide personal income but also contribute to Nigeria’s broader development goals.
He reaffirmed the agency’s mission to promote value reorientation, civic responsibility, and informed citizenship.
Highlighting the objectives of the NOA, Akinde said the agency remains committed to instilling national unity, responsible conduct, and value-based living across the country.
He called on the youth to rise above societal pressures and serve as role models in their communities.
The session, which formed part of the corps members’ orientation activities, served as both a motivational and moral compass, emphasising that the NYSC year is not only about national service but also about character-building, discipline, and preparing for a future anchored in honesty and purpose.
