The Nigeria Police Force has arrested several policemen attached to the Zone 16 Command in Yenagoa, Bayelsa for their alleged involvement in a N3 million extortion case.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the development in a statement shared on his official X account (formerly Twitter).
Adejobi announced that the policemen involved had been arrested after an internal investigation and would be transferred to the Force Headquarters (FHQ) in Abuja.
“The policemen involved in the ₦3 million extortion case have been arrested. They are attached to the Zone 16 Command in Yenagoa, and the command has been instructed to present them at the Force Headquarters,” Adejobi wrote.
He also reaffirmed the Force Headquarters’ commitment to purging the police system of corruption and ensuring justice in all cases brought to its attention.
This case has highlighted the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing efforts to tackle internal corruption and rebuild public trust in law enforcement.
