Among the events held on the sidelines of the 2025 Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) was the Annual General Meeting of the NBA’s Section on Legal Practice (SLP).
NEWSWIRE Law Events Magazine’s correspondent in Enugu reports that the meeting, which was anchored by the immediate past Chairman of the SLP. Boma Alabi, OON, SAN, at the Doom Hall of Enugu’s International Conference Center (ICC), had the following highlights:
1. Presentation of several reports by various units of the NBA-SLP, including the Section’s financial audit report by Ezekiel Ilesanmi & Co. The audit showed a significant 163% increase on the Section’s total assets;
2. The NBA-SLP reiterated its commitment to the enhancement of the standard of legal practice in Nigeria through recommendations relevant for rules of conducts and ethics for legal practitioners.
3. The Section’s Electoral Committee Chairman also used the opportunity to announce the formal end of the tenure of the Boma Alabi SAN-led executive, and the election of a new executive committee, to be led by Folashade Alli, SAN. The new executive committee will serve for the next two years.
4. In her acceptance speech, Alli, the new NBA-SLP leader, emphasized her team’s determination to be member-centric and to focus on technological advancement for the benefit of members.
The meeting came to a close with a formal motion for adjournment.
