The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed the 2025 Appropriation Bill of N402.57b billion Into law.
The House had jerked the 2025 budget by N20 billion against the N382.57 billion earlier presented by Governor Abdullahi Sule, making it a total of N402.57b.
According to the House of Assembly, the increase was due to the importance of some economic codes in the budget and the current inflation in the market.
The Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, announced the passage of the bill into law during the House proceedings in Lafia on Friday.
He expressed optimism that the 2025 Appropriation bill if finally assented to by the Governor, would enable the state government to execute more people’s oriented projects for the overall development of the state.
“A Bill For A Law to Issue Out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State (Appropriation) of the Sum of N402, 567, 843, 592.03 is read for the third term and passed.
“Where N166, 384 435,542.25 as Recurrent Expenditure while N236, 183,408, 049.78 as Capital Expenditure,” he said.
The Speaker, therefore directed the Clerk of the House to provide him with a clean copy of the Bill for his vetting and onward transmission to Governor Sule for his further necessary action.
It would be recalled that on Friday, November 29, 2024, Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule presented the 2025 Appropriation bill of N382.57b christened “Budget of Economic Growth and Stability”, to the House of Assembly for approval.
In a related development, the House has passed into law A Bill for a Law to Establish the Nasarawa State Fire and Rescue Service Agency to provide for the Suppression of Fires, Rescue of Persons and Animals from Hazardous Situations and Other Matters Connected Thereto.
The Speaker, while announcing the passage of the bill into law during the House proceedings today in Lafia, said that the bill was aimed at providing fire fighting equipment, among others.
The Speaker further directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the House resolution to Governor Sule for his further necessary action.
Earlier, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Suleiman Azara, moved motions for the passage of both bills into law, while the Minority Leader, Hon. Luka Zhekaba, seconded the motions.
Furthermore, the Speaker announced that the House would proceed on Christmas recess from tomorrow, December 21, 2024, and would resume on February 3, 2025.
This followed a motion moved by Hon. Suleiman Azara, and seconded by Hon. Luka Zhekaba.
