NAPTIP secures conviction of 66-year-old human trafficker

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, NAPTIP, said its Command in Yobe State has secured a conviction of a 66-year-old man found guilty of human trafficking.

The anti-human trafficking agency revealed this in a post via its verified Facebook page on Saturday.

“The Yobe State Command has secured a conviction in the case of FRN vs. Ibrahim Musa.

“The defendant, Ibrahim Musa (66, male), was arraigned before the State High Court II, Damaturu, presided over by Hon. Justice Lawu Lawan”, the agency said.

According to NAPTIP, the convict was charged with procuring and exploiting a 14-year-old female victim.

It said the offence was contrary to, and punishable under Sections 13 and 16(1) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015 (as amended).

It added that the offender was first arraigned on 12th January, 2023 and was convicted on 6th January, 2025.

The human trafficker has been sentenced to a term of five years imprisonment.
