Dearest supporters,
I received an email from the ECNBA to the effect that I have been disqualified to contest the 2022 NBA National Officers Election for the post of Treasurer of our Association.
The reason for this is that one of my nominators, (Seconder) a former Secretary of my dear Branch omitted to fill Pages 16, 17 and 18 of the nomination form.
In the screening exercise by ECNBA on the 10th day of May 2022, ECNBA brought this to my notice that part of the Seconder’s section were not filled. I explained to them that the Seconder was the Secretary to my branch in 2018 to 2020 and as a result, a statutory member of NEC. I believe that the information given could rectify the situation since it can be verified from the branch or from NBA National Office more so the fact that the information required in those pages, which pertains to the aspirants contesting for the position of President, General Secretary, does not relate to the position I am aspiring to contest.
Dear Colleagues, I want to inform you of this painful situation. My phone has been ringing since the publication of the list of qualified candidates. Your calls and encouragement have made me stronger.
The support I got over one year since this journey through consultations and attending Branch Bar Meetings has motivated me that I am forever indebted to you all.
I consider the only option open to me which is to appeal the decision of the ECNBA and believing that the honest error made by my seconder can be reconsidered by the Appeal Committee. I have faith in the appeal committee and the administration of Olu Akpata, President of NBA.
I urge you all to remain calm and steadfast in your support for this project. We have really done well in the cause of this journey and we have come along way.
I promise to inform you of any development.
God Bless
