Kamoru has filed a petition at the Grade A Customary Court, Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, seeking the dissolution of his marriage to his wife, Taibat. He accuses her of infidelity, neglect, and abandonment.
According to Kamoru, Taibat engaged in extramarital affairs and neglected her marital duties, including denying him intimacy. He alleges that she traveled abroad without informing him, leaving her phone switched off for days, causing him great concern. Despite attempts to reconcile, their relationship deteriorated, leading Taibat to ultimately vacate their home.
Kamoru appeals to the court for custody of their children if the divorce is granted, pledging to provide for them adequately. Although Taibat was absent from court despite being served summonses, Kamoru presented his case, detailing the breakdown of their 16-year marriage and his desire for its official dissolution.
The president of the court, Mrs. S.M. Akintayo, has adjourned the case and ordered a fresh hearing notice to be issued and served to the defendant.
