Man Electrocuted while Assisting Neighbor in Ogun

In a sad turn of events, a middle-aged electrician in Unity Estate, Aregbe, Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, was electrocuted on Tuesday while helping his neighbor fix an electrical fault.

SP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, confirmed the incident and assured that a statement on the incident will be issued soon

According to reports, the incident occurred when Elijah from Unity Estate, Aregbe area of Obantoko, Odeda local government area of Ogun State, hired an electrician to help rectify an electrical fault.

During the task, there was a power outage, but unfortunately, the power was restored while the electrician was still on the electrical pole.

A source in the community stated that residents panicked and fled, and the incident was subsequently reported at Aregbe Police Station.

The source explained, “He was an electrician who was hired to assist in repairing an electrical fault in Mr. Elijah’s house. He has been providing assistance in fixing faults when the IBEDC men were unavailable.

Before starting the connection, there was no electricity. However, power was restored while he was working, resulting in his electrocution. Initially, people in the vicinity fled, but later Mr. Elijah went to Aregbe Police Station to report the incident, and members of the Community Development Association joined him
