The Lagos State Traditional Medicine Board, in collaboration with officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, sealed six facilities operating without proper regularisation and with outdated documents in some areas of Lagos Mainland.

According to a Saturday statement, the enforcement action followed multiple notifications and warnings issued to the affected facilities, directing them to approach the board for registration and compliance with the Lagos State Health Sector Reform Law 2015.

Speaking on the exercise, the Registrar, LSTMB, Babatunde Adele, emphasised that the state government would not tolerate disregard for regulatory requirements.

“The board has consistently engaged in awareness campaigns through print media and radio jingles to educate practitioners on the need for proper registration, particularly in light of the rising cases of quackery in the Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine sectors

“Erring practitioners will face penalties in accordance with the Lagos State Health Sector Reform Law 2015.

“The board remains committed to safeguarding public health by enforcing strict compliance with regulatory provisions,” Adele said.

He stated that the enforcement action would be sustained and monitored closely to deter further violations, as the government continues to uphold high standards in the practice of traditional medicine.
