The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a security guard, identified as Amos Kini, in connection with the abduction of a two-year-old boy in the Elemoro area.
In a statement issued on Monday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the case was reported by child’s mother last week.
The statement read, “The incident occurred on 21st September, 2025, at about 2350hrs, when the mother of the child reported at Elemoro Division that her security guard had absconded with her son and mobile phone to an unknown location without her consent.
“The suspect later used the stolen phone to contact the father of the child, demanding a ransom of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000.00) for his release.”
The PRO explained that, operatives visited and documented, one Aruna Dauda (male), who stood as guarantor for the suspect before his employment, was taken in for questioning.
She added that the suspect later releaseed the child, but operatives continued their manhunt, determined to bring the perpetrator to justice.
“On 23rd September, 2025, at about 1400hrs, operatives of the Tactical Squad (Hyena), acting on credible intelligence, successfully tracked and arrested Amos Kini at his hideout within the Elemoro area.
“The suspect has since confessed to the crime and remains in police custody. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Adebisi said.
Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh condemned the abduction and reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling violent and capital crimes in Lagos.
The police urged parents and guardians to stay vigilant and asked members of the public to report suspicious activity to any of the command’s emergency numbers.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the Command confirmed that the five bodies recovered along the Oreta riverbank in the Igbogbo community, Ikorodu Local Government Area were victims of a cult-related attack.
The killings added to a series of cult-related incidents across Lagos, which have so far led to the arrest of more than 26 suspects, according to the command.
