The Lagos State Government has stepped up enforcement, conducting multiple clean-up operations across key areas of the state on Thursday.

In a video shared on X(Formerly Twitter) on Friday by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the operations targeted hotspots where traders had encroached on roads, obstructing traffic and compromising public safety.

“Our Environmental Task Force intervened at Ogudu Road by Ojota Junction, Iyana-Ipaja Under Bridge, and Egbeda Junction, where traders had encroached on the road, obstructing traffic and compromising public safety. During the operations, goods and wares were seized, and 15 offenders were arrested,” Wahab said.

All suspects are set to be arraigned in court, and the seized items will be forfeited to the State in line with existing laws. The Commissioner emphasised that street trading remains illegal in Lagos.

“Street trading remains illegal in Lagos, and we will continue to enforce the law firmly and fairly to keep our roads safe, orderly, and free for all road users,” Wahab added.

Authorities have urged residents and traders to comply with regulations to ensure safer and more accessible roads for everyone.
