Authorities at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso have suspended academic activities at the Iseyin campus of the institution.
The development was announced in a statement signed by the Registrar of the institution, Olayinka Balogun, and made available to DAILY POST on Saturday.
According to reports by the Daily Post, it was gathered that the suspension of the academic activities at the institution was as a result of the death of a student in the institution
It was gathered that a 200 level student of the Department of Agricultural Economics was fatally wounded by a hit-and-run driver in Iseyin. The incident led to widespread outrage among students.
The institution, in the statement, advised all the students to proceed on a two-week break.
The statement read: “The Management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology ( LAUTECH), Ogbomoso deeply regret to announce the tragic passing of a 200 Level student of the Department of Agricultural Economics, who was fatally wounded by a hit- and – run driver in Iseyin.
“Consequently, all students in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources are to proceed on a two-week break.”
